L'attaquant international tunisien, Amor Laayouni, remplaçant au coup d'envoi, a inscrit le deuxième but de son équipe. Le Pyramids FC s'est imposé au Nigeria face à Engu Rangers (1-3).

Pour sa première participation en compétition africaine, l’équipe Égyptienne ne peut pas rêver de meilleur départ. Menés (1-0) à la mi-temps sur le sol nigérian, face aux Engu Rangers, les « skyblues » ont renversé le match en deuxième mi-temps. Mohamed Farouk a égalisé sur penalty (53e, 1-1), le tunisien Amor Laayouni, a mis huit minutes pour se signaler sur une jolie frappe croisé imparable (8″e, 1-2), et c’est Islam Attia qui a inscrit le troisième but, encore sur penalty (87e, 1-3).

Les hommes de Sébastien Desabres réalisent une belle opération et prennent la tête du groupe A, en attendant le match entre les mauritaniens de Nouhadhibou et les égyptiens d’El Masry plus tard dans la soirée.
